Stand To Guide

How the platform works, module by module. Your home screen shows the modules your school has turned on for you, so you may not see every one listed here.

Getting started

The basics of getting around Stand To.

Your home screen

Everything starts at the home screen. Each card is a module. Tap a card to open it. Come back to the home screen any time to switch to another module.

My Day

If you teach a class on your school's uploaded schedule, your home screen opens to My Day. It shows the class you are teaching right now. Before school it shows your first class, and between classes it shows the next one. Tap a period at the top to see a different class. Tap a student's photo to give a pass or a recognition, file a referral, log a family contact, or open their profile. Out right now lists your students who are on a pass, with a Return button. The Today card lists coverage, a duty post, or office hours you have today. Your other modules are under All tools, below My Day.

My last 30 days, at the bottom of My Day, is folded until you open it. It shows the recognitions you logged, the referrals you filed, how many recognitions that is for each referral, and minutes out on passes from your classes each week for the last four weeks. Only you see it. Stand To works it out on your device when you open it, saves nothing, and shows it in no admin report or View As. There are no targets and no comparisons to other teachers.

What you can see

Your home screen shows the modules your administrator turned on for your account. A colleague may see more or fewer than you do. If you need a module that isn't there, ask your Stand To administrator to turn it on.

When an admin previews your screen

Your school's admins can use View as to see Stand To the way you see it, so they can help when something looks wrong. A preview is read only: nothing can be saved or changed while they look. Your personal quick links are hidden from them, and every preview is recorded in your school's log.

What's new

The What's new button at the top of the home screen lists recent changes, newest first. A dot on the button means there's an update you haven't opened yet.

Today's day letter

If your school runs A/B days, today's letter shows at the top of the home screen. Admins and coverage staff can tap it to correct the letter if it's wrong. Admins can see and change the letter for any day on the School calendar in the top-right menu. No-school days on the calendar are skipped, so the letter after a break stays right.

Quick links

Quick links are shortcuts your school sets on the home screen. Everyone at the school sees the same set.

Notifications

Stand To can send a notice to your phone or computer when a student is headed to your room, when a referral you filed is resolved, when a safety report comes in for your categories, and when you are assigned to cover a class. Tap your school name in the top right, choose Notifications, and tap Turn on notifications. Then pick which notices you want. Nothing sends from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. except safety reports. Notices show only a student's first name and last initial, and safety notices show only the category. On iPhone, notifications work only when Stand To is on your Home Screen, on iOS 16.4 or later. Signing out stops notices on that device.

On your phone

Stand To runs in any web browser. On a phone or tablet, add it to your home screen and open it like an app.

Attendance and time on campus

Track who's here, who's late, and where staff stand watch.

Tardy & Check-In

Kiosk and staff check-in, automatic consequences, parent alerts, reports, and printable passes.

Hall Pass

Issue and time hall passes, see who is out right now, and flag long or frequent passes. Scan student IDs with the camera.

Once your class schedules are uploaded and your Class periods have start and end times, a new pass fills in where the student is coming from: room, teacher, and period. The kiosk does the same. Staff can type over it. Teachers can switch Out now to My class to see only their own students.

Anyone with Hall Pass access can issue passes, including the nurse, front office, counselors, and security. To send a student back, pick Back to class. Stand To fills in their current class, and From starts as Office with one-tap choices like Nurse or Counselor. The teacher sees the pass under My class, marked Headed to you, and taps Return when the student walks in.

Admins can hold passes at the start and end of each class under Settings, Restricted times. Pick how many minutes and which destinations, such as Bathroom and Water. Nurse, Office, Counselor, and Back to class are never held. During those minutes, staff see a warning and can tap Issue anyway, which shows as an override in History. The kiosk tells students when passes open and to ask their teacher. Students on the Always allowed list can get a pass any time, with no warning and no reason recorded. Restricted times need Class periods with start and end times.

Admins can also set pass limits under Settings, Pass limits: how many passes a student can have in a day, how many students can be out school-wide, and how many can be out from one class. Nurse, Office, Counselor, and Back to class don't count toward the daily limit unless you change that, and you can give one student a different daily limit. The Keep apart list stops two students from being out of class at the same time. When a limit holds a pass, staff see why and can tap Issue anyway, which shows as an override in History. A teacher stopped by Keep apart sees only a message to check with an administrator, never the other student's name, and only admins can issue past it. The kiosk tells students to ask their teacher.

Attendance Ladder

Track each student up the truancy intervention ladder: notices, SART, and SARB. Rungs seed from California law and you rename them. Set unexcused counts by hand or import them from your SIS. The ladder tracks the process; it does not take attendance.

Import takes a CSV or Excel file from your SIS or district, even one with a title row above the headers. Before anything saves, you see which column feeds each field and can change any that are wrong. Only the student ID is required. Unexcused absences and unexcused 30-minute tardies feed the ladder. Days enrolled and days absent for any reason give each student's absence rate. Unverified absences show what the office still needs to clear. A file that leaves a field out never erases what's already there. Each import also saves a dated snapshot of each student's counts, so progress can be tracked over time. History starts with the first import after this feature shipped.

Each student's page shows their absence rate and flags chronic absenteeism at 10% or more. That rate counts every absence, excused or not. The ladder counts unexcused only, the way truancy law does. The worklist shows students with an unexcused count, the chronic truancy flag, or an open case, so importing your full roster doesn't crowd it.

Duty Posts

On the home screen, Duty Posts and Coverage share one card, Staff Board. Use the tabs at the top to switch.

Assign supervision posts by day-part: arrival, passing periods, lunch, dismissal. Set who stands where every day, then mark a post open or reassign it for a single day from the board.

Extra Duty Hours (formerly Extended Time)

Teachers set their own recurring after-school block, then confirm each day they hold it with one tap, plus a note and any students who came. A late start or early leave logs as an exception with a reason. The Start and Stop clock is optional presence evidence; it doesn't set your hours, your block does. Your log is visible only to you and an admin.

Admins set the requirement, which days count, the minimum length, and an allowed window, and see a school-wide view of who held their hours each week.

Extra Duty Hours covers any outside-the-day work your school tracks or pays for. Admins add activity types in Settings: a name, pay (unpaid, hourly, or stipend), a funding source, an optional sessions-per-week target, and whether students must be tagged. Your existing office hours are the first type. Teachers pick a type at the top of My Extra Duty Hours, set a schedule for it, and log sessions.

For hourly types, each log asks for the start and end time, filled in from your schedule. Change them if the session ran longer or shorter. Each hourly type has an approval setting in Settings. Auto-approve up to the teacher's schedule (the default) approves a session that is no longer than the teacher's schedule; a longer session, or one without a schedule, waits for an admin. Admin approves every session sends all of them to Approve hours. No approval needed counts every logged session. On Approve hours, admins approve what is waiting, a week at a time or one at a time, and can pull back any auto-approved session. If a teacher edits a session, it is checked again. Approved hours, with covered class periods, go on the Extra pay export on Coverage, Coverage Report: staff, date, type, minutes, hours, and funding source. Payroll applies each person's rate.

A session with students tagged has a Print sign-in sheet button in Recent sessions.

Behavior and consequences

File incidents, run consequences, and recognize good work.

Referrals

File behavior referrals, sort minor from major, and track outcomes. Reports break down referrals by behavior, location, time of day, and student.

Detention & Consequences

On the home screen, Detention and In-School Suspension share one card, Consequences. Use the tabs at the top to switch.

Schedule and track detention and consequence serving.

When a student lands on the no-go list, a parent alert queues under the list. Email family sends it to the parent emails on file. Mark sent records that you reached the family another way. On a re-entry case, set the meeting date and time, then Email family the meeting time.

Return to class: on a re-entry case, the For teachers box holds what the student's teachers should know on the return day, like a seat change or a check-in. The Plan box stays private. At 6:45 a.m. on the return date, every teacher on the student's current class schedule gets a phone notice and a Returning to class today card in My Day, with the For teachers text and a link to Behavior supports when the student has a plan. Students who served in-school suspension the school day before get the same notice, unless they still owe ISS. The card clears at the end of the day. No referral or incident details are shared.

Family notices in other languages

Tardy, detention, and re-entry emails go out in the family's home language, with English below. Set a student's home language, and a second parent or guardian, on the Students page or with Home Language, Parent 2 Name, and Parent 2 Contact columns in your roster upload. Both parents get the email when both have an email address.

Admins: open Family notices in the top-right menu to edit the text. Stand To includes Spanish drafts. A language version stays off, and families get English only, until a fluent speaker reads it and you mark it reviewed. Any edit needs a new review. Add other languages from the same screen. The English tardy notice is still edited in Tardy & Check-In settings.

Drills & Emergencies

During a drill or a real event, every staff member confirms who is with them, and the office sees who is not confirmed yet. Admins and staff who can use Pass Freeze press Start a drill or emergency on the home screen: pick the type, and check the box if it is a real event. Starting it turns on Pass Freeze, sends a notice to staff phones that have it turned on, and puts a red bar on every Stand To page.

Teachers tap the red bar. Their class running now is listed; tap each student who is with you, or press All present. Pick a different period if needed, and type a name to add a student who is not on your list. Each tap saves right away, and with no signal it saves on the device and sends when the connection returns.

The Office view lists every active student not confirmed yet, with passes out first, and shows late check-ins and early releases beside each name. Stand To does not take attendance, so absent students are on the list too; check the SIS for today's absences. A student two teachers confirm shows once, with both names. Ending the drill lifts Pass Freeze, locks the record, and saves its totals: active students, confirmed, not confirmed, staff reporting, and minutes. Records are kept for good and can't be deleted. The Drill and emergency log on the Office view lists every drill and real event this school year; print it or export a CSV for your district or fire marshal, or open one drill and print who was not confirmed.

When an event starts, every open Stand To screen plays a short tone once and the browser tab turns red with the event name, so staff working in another tab still see it. Android phones also vibrate. When it ends, a softer tone plays. Lockdown and shelter in place are silent by default: no tone and no notification sound, because a sound in a locked room gives away where people are. Admins change which types are silent under Alert tone settings on the Drills & Emergencies page, and can play the tone there to hear it.

Browsers play sound only after the person has clicked or tapped the page, and phones follow their own silent switch and Do Not Disturb. The tone helps staff notice. Your PA and district alert system are still how the school announces an emergency. To get a pop-up on a computer, open Notifications in the menu on that computer and turn on the drill notice; on a computer it stays on screen until someone clicks it. If Stand To is on a projector during a real lockdown, follow your lockdown steps first: lights and screens off.

Substitute sign-in

Give a substitute one day of access from the Coverage Today tab. Press Give sub access on the absent teacher, enter the sub's email, and pick when access ends. Stand To emails the sub a one-time sign-in link. If it doesn't arrive, press Resend link. The teacher needs an email on the Staff tab.

The sub sees one page: the teacher's classes by period. They can issue and return hall passes, log recognitions, and file referrals. They can read IEP, 504, and behavior supports only when the teacher can, and every plan they open is logged. They can't override a pass rule, check in tardies, or open any other part of Stand To. Access ends at the time you picked. Press End access to stop it sooner. Admins and anyone with Coverage can give access, at schools cleared for student data.

In-School Suspension

Schedule in-school suspension dates, assign students, and keep a daily record of who showed up and who was a no-show. Auto-assigns from repeat tardy sweeps for admin review.

Recognition

Recognize students for attendance, achievement, leadership, and citizenship. Tap a category to log it. Reports break down recognitions by category, student, and grade.

Student support

See the whole student and stay in front of problems.

Student Profile

One read-only view per student: tardies, hall-pass time, referrals, recognitions, and consequences, pulled together from every module.

Teachers and other staff with the student lookup see a student's Grade alerts, the Ds and Fs from each marking period, along with the family contact log.

On the full profile, staff with Grade Alerts access also see an Assessments card: each test's scale score, placement, and level for every window, by school year.

IEP at a Glance shows a student's accommodations and modifications, grouped as Environmental, Instructional, and Testing, with modifications set apart because they change what gets graded. Teachers see plans only for students in their own classes. My classes lists each period with the students who have plans and a count of testing accommodations, like how many get extended time. Case managers see their caseload under My caseload and keep plans current. If your school keeps IEP documents in a Drive folder, the link sits under the plan.

Mentor

Mentors see only the students assigned to them, with tardies, referrals, and grade flags at a glance, and log a short check-in each time they meet. Students overdue for a check-in sort to the top. Assign mentors on the student profile.

Focal groups are sets of students a team watches together, like 9th graders with 2+ Fs or seniors off track. Admins create a group, name the staff on it, and add students. Open a group to see whether it's working. Stand To records the day each student joins, then compares before with since: Ds and Fs for every marking period, with periods imported after joining shaded; late arrivals per week before joining and since; and, for staff with Attendance access, the year-to-date absence rate when they joined against the rate for just the days since. Green means better, red means worse. The view also shows each student's mentor and last check-in. Staff with Grade Alerts access see a column for each assessment, like i-Ready Reading, with the first score of the school year, the latest, and the latest level. Staff named on a group see only their groups. A student can be in more than one group.

Needs support lists students in trouble in the latest marking period who have no mentor and aren't in any focal group. In trouble means 2+ Fs, Ds and Fs in 3 or more classes (a D doesn't meet A-G), or an F and chronically absent. Check students and add them to a group, or jump to Assign mentors. A student comes off the list once they have a mentor or join an active focal group. Admins only.

Grade Alerts

Import grades from your SIS by marking period. Use every student's marks, not just Ds and Fs: Stand To pulls the D/F list out of the same file, and the full file adds the honor roll and who improved or slipped. A D/F-only file still works without those. D and F flags show up on the student profile next to attendance and referrals, so a counselor sees the full picture in one place. Importing a marking period again replaces what was there, so a corrected file never doubles up.

The Dashboard tab shows counts at the top: 3+ Fs, 2 Fs, 1 F, 9th graders with 2+ Fs, and seniors with Fs. Tap a count to show only those students, and tap it again to show everyone. Tap any column name to sort. Search by name or student ID. Tap a student to see each class in period order with the teacher, mark, and absences. Where the Fs are ranks courses by F count; its header shows the top course, and a tap opens the full list.

Honor roll and movement sits under those counts once a period has every student's marks. It shows your honor lists, like Straight A, Principal's Honor Roll, and Honor Roll, plus who improved and who slipped since the last marking period. Improved means GPA rose by 0.5 or more or the student came off the D/F list; Slipped is the reverse. Tap a count to see the names, with GPA before and after and the reason, then add them to a focal group. GPA here is calculated from the imported marks, unweighted, with plus and minus ignored. It is not the official GPA. Admins set list names, cutoffs, and the 0.5 threshold in Grade Alerts Settings.

The Cross-check tab lines up each flagged student's grades with their late arrivals from Tardy & Check-In and how often they were late to classes they're failing. A late arrival counts against that day's first class, following your A/B schedule if your school runs one. Staff with Attendance access also see each student's absence rate from the attendance import. Students with the most warning signs sort to the top. Tap a count to filter and a column name to sort, same as the Dashboard. Once reading results are imported, a Reading column shows each student's latest level and score, with an F and reading far below count.

The Assessments tab holds reading and math screener results, like i-Ready, STAR, or a state test. An admin sets up each test once in Setup: its name, its windows (Fall, Winter, Spring), and how its placements map to four common levels: Far below, Below, Near, and At or above. i-Ready has a ready-made setup. Import a CSV or Excel export for each window; Stand To reads the test, window, and year from the file where it can, and you check the columns before anything saves. Results show the test's own score and placement, the common level, and score change since the first window. Tap a level count, pick a grade, or set a score range to filter, then add those students to a focal group. Students who didn't take the test show as Not tested.

On any of these tabs, once a filter is on, admins and staff with full profile access can add those students to a focal group in one step, either an existing group or a new one. Manage groups in the Mentor module.

Safety & Reporting

Anonymous student reporting through a QR code. Staff get notified by category: safety, bullying, drugs, mental health, and more. Admin tracks every report and who was notified.

Coverage and instruction

Fill gaps, get into classrooms, and plan the year.

Coverage & Daily Board

Substitute and internal coverage, a payroll-ready coverage report, plus the daily announcements, events, and action items board.

Teacher schedules fill in from the class schedule upload on the Students page, with free periods marked Prep so the board knows who can cover. Each upload replaces them for every teacher in the file. Staff not in the file, like security or counselors, keep what you entered by hand. Set each teacher's usual room once in the Room column on Staff & Schedules, and it shows on the Schedule Board and on hall passes. The board shows each class on one line with the room underneath; hover or tap a class to see every section in it.

Alternate schedules like minimum days, finals, and rallies are set up under Class periods in the top-right menu, with their own periods and times. Pick which one a date uses on the Today tab, or set the whole year at once on the School calendar in the top-right menu.

Walkthrough & Observation

Fast classroom walkthroughs with trend reports.

Master Schedule Prep

Plan next year's sections and assign teachers to periods on one board, with live load and section-count checks. Hands a clean draft to your SIS.

The Guide tab walks you through the build in six steps: set a timeline, count requests, check staffing, place singletons first, build the board, then review and export. Enter the date schedules go to students and each milestone gets a due date. Each step marks itself done as you finish it, and once all six are done the module opens on the Board.

Import request counts on the Courses tab with a CSV of Course, Department, Requests, Cap, and Grade. Download the template there to see the format. The staffing check compares sections needed in each department against what your teachers can carry, so you see a shortage before you build. Set a grade on single-section courses, and the board outlines any two for the same grade placed in the same period.

Testing Coordinator

Plan test sessions: rooms, capacity, and proctor assignments on one grid. Flags a proctor who is teaching, out that day, or double-booked, and rooms over capacity.

Campus and records

Handle facilities, IDs, and athletics.

Campus Issues

Staff report campus issues: broken tech, repairs, facility requests. The front office fixes in-house, files the district work order, or declines with a reason. Reporters see every status change.

ID Maker

Take student photos with a webcam and print student ID cards on a card printer or a paper sheet. Photos save to each student and appear across the platform. Cards use your school name, colors, and logo, with a scannable barcode of the student ID.

Athletic Director

Build teams by sport and level, assign head and assistant coaches, and manage rosters. Roster athletes from your student list or add neighborhood players who attend another school. Print a clean roster for any team. For each enrolled athlete, the athletic director sees referrals, ISS, detention, and grade flags in one place.

For administrators

Setup and oversight tools for admins.

View as and Access

On Roster and Roles, tap View as next to a staff member to see Stand To exactly as they see it. It's read only, and a bar at the bottom shows who you're viewing as. Tap Exit to come back. Tap Access to see every module and permission with a Yes, or the first reason that person can't use it: not in your school's plan, turned off for your school, not cleared for student data, not turned on for them, not on the class schedule, or no caseload. Each preview is recorded in your school's View As log. You can't preview other admins.

Setup list

When something still needs setting up, your home screen shows a Setup list under Today. It covers class schedules that aren't uploaded, class periods missing start or end times, teachers in your schedule file with no Stand To login, and roster staff with no login. Tap a line to fix it or see who it lists. Each item drops off the next time you open the home screen after it's fixed. Subs and staff who don't use Stand To can stay on the roster without a login, so you can hide that line for your school. Teachers never see the Setup list.

Principal Dashboard

Building-level view of tardies, referrals, in-school suspension, and coverage gaps across a date range you set, with change against the prior period.

Set targets on the dashboard to track progress against your goals.

The dashboard has four tabs. Trends is the view above. Today lists what needs attention today, and it opens first before 10 a.m.: uncovered periods, open duty posts, students returning from suspension with their re-entry meeting status, ISS students to check in, detention owed and the no-go list, open safety reports, new campus issues, test sessions, and support requests waiting. Each line uses the same count as its module, and tapping it opens that module. Lines with nothing to do stay hidden.

Admins can get the Today counts by email at 6:45 a.m. on school days. Tap your school name in the top right and choose Morning Report email. The email holds counts and links only, never student names. On the first school day of each week it adds last week's tardies, referrals by location and time of day, hall pass minutes, coverage filled, and recognitions. School days are Monday to Friday; add holidays and breaks on the School calendar in the top-right menu so the email skips them. Click a weekday to mark it, or drag across days to mark a whole break.

The Class time tab shows class time out of the room that Stand To records: late check-ins count from the period's start bell, hall passes count until the student is back or the period ends, and an in-school suspension day counts every class period. Passes closed as Not returned are counted, not turned into minutes. Absences and out-of-school suspensions are not included. It needs period start and end times in Settings; without them, only hall pass minutes count. Totals update each night. Admins and Full Profile staff can see it, and Student Profile shows each student's total.

Did it work? (admins only) compares the weeks before and since a student's first start of an intervention in the date range: served detention, served ISS, mentor assigned, check-in/check-out enrolled, and SST or COST requests. It shows late arrivals, referrals, and hall pass minutes per week, and Ds and Fs from the marking period imported before the start against the latest one after. A student is included once 2 weeks have passed. Numbers are group averages by intervention type, never by staff member. A group under 5 students shows Too few to compare. It shows what changed, not why.

Roster and Roles

Add staff, assign roles, and set which modules each person can use. This is where you turn modules on or off for a colleague's account.

Students

One-file import loads students, class schedules, attendance counts, and grades from one Excel workbook. Name the sheets Students, Schedules, Attendance, and Grades; any you leave out are skipped. Stand To runs them in that order, one sheet at a time, and shows each sheet's columns and first rows before it saves. Each sheet gives the same result as uploading it on its own page. If a sheet can't import, the ones after it wait, and the screen says which sheet to fix. Download the template workbook from the One-file import section. The Using Aeries? note there has the query for the Schedules sheet.

Manage the student roster, import from a CSV, and activate or deactivate students. Upload class schedules here too, one row per student per class, so teachers see their own classes in IEP at a Glance. The same upload fills teacher schedules on the Coverage board and tells Hall Pass where each student should be. Room is optional. Teachers the upload can't match to the Coverage roster are listed on the result screen, where you link each one to an existing entry or add them as new.

Setting quick links

From the user menu you can set three kinds of links: staff links that show on the home page for everyone, school links that show on the dashboard for admins, and personal links that only you see.

A note on new permissions. When a new module or permission ships, Stand To gives it to the staff in the roles it was built for. Anyone you turned it off for stays off. You can still change any person's access in Roster and Roles.
